ASUU vows to embark on nationwide strike, gives FG a 3-week ultimatum.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has vowed to go on another nationwide strike due to the failure of the federal to meet agreements reached back in 2020.

The union has also given the federal government a 3-week ultimatum to fufill all agreements reached back in 2020.

On Monday, November 15th, Professor Emmanuel Osedeke issued this threat during a briefing on the resolutions agreed upon at the National Executive Council meeting held in Abuja, Legit.ng reports.

According to Osodeke, the union is very disappointed with the federal government’s attitude towards its demands.

In his words;

“We are very dissatisfied with the government’s attitude to our issues. We have given the government three weeks to meet our demands during the NEC meeting we had Saturday and Sunday.”

Till date, the union has been crying out to the federal government over unpaid academic allowance and non- implementation of universities revitalisation fund.

Despite several meetings held with ASUU, the federal has failed to reach the Union’s demands.
