Liverpool forward, Sadio Mane, has slammed Ballon d’Or organizers for not including his compatriot, Chelsea’s Edouard Mendy, in their 30-man shortlist released last week.

Recall that the 30-man shortlist for this year’s Ballon d’Or was announced last Friday, with five Chelsea players included.

N’Golo Kante, Cesar Azpilicueta, Mason Mount, Jorginho and Romelu Lukaku all made the cut.

Mendy enjoyed a stunning debut season in the Premier League and capped it off by winning the Champions League, as the Blues defeated Manchester City 1-0 in the final.

The goalkeeper also won the UEFA Super Cup with Thomas Tuchel’s side.

However, Mane believes his Mendy deserved to be recognized for his impressive displays for Chelsea, adding that it was unacceptable.

Asked about Mendy’s omission from the 30-man Ballon d’Or shortlist, Mane told reporters after Senegal’s World Cup qualifier 4-1 win over Namibia: “It is unacceptable.

“I do not understand, these are things to deplore.”
