Brazil icon Pele moved to end-of-life care in hospital after no longer responding to chemotherapy

The great Brazilian striker has been placed on end-of-life care.

Football legend Pele has reportedly been moved to palliative care in a hospital as the Brazilian is no longer responding to chemotherapy.

According to reports, Pele was re-admitted on Tuesday at the Albert Einstein hospital in Sao Paulo, where it was said that he is in stable condition.

However, multiple news outlets have confirmed that the Brazilian legend has been in palliative care and is longer responding to the chemotherapy he has been undoing for bowel cancer since last September.

It was also stated that Pele will no longer undergo further invasive tests or treatments as he is now in end-of-life care.

Before the match between Brazil and Cameroon at the FIFA World Cup on Friday, fans held up get-well-soon banners as a message of support to the former striker.

Pele also wrote a note of appreciation on his official Instagram page for the “get-well-soon” message he received, which was projected onto a building in Qatar. In the post, Pele stated that he was just “making his monthly” visit to the hospital, while he thanked everyone for the good vibes they have shown him.
