The federal government of Nigeria has declared Tuesday, October 19 as public holiday for the celebration of 2021 Eid-ul-Maulud.
Eid-ul-Maulud is the annual celebration observed by Muslims to celebrate the birth of Prophet Mohammed.
This news was disclosed in a statement by the permanent secretary, Ministry of Interior, Shuaib Belgore on Friday, October 19th.
The statement which was posted on the official Facebook page, mentioned that Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola is congratulating all Muslims in Nigeria and the Diaspora on the celebration of Eid-ul-Maulud.
Aregbesola also admonished Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of love, patience and perseverance which are Prophet Muhammad’s virtues, Legit.ng reports.
According to the minister, doing so will guarantee the peace and security in the country.
The Statement read in part:
“Ogbeni Aregbesola enjoined Nigerians particularly Muslims, to refrain from violence,lawlessness, and other acts of criminality. As the indisputable leader of our race, we must show responsible leadership in Africa.”
The minister also urged Nigerians to co-operate with President Muhammmadu Buhari administration in it’s efforts to build a progressive and enviable nation.
