The Federal Republic of Nigeria has revealed the total sum of money that would be spent to conduct general elections in 2023.

A revised 2022-2024 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF), which was submitted to the House of Representatives, by President Muhammadu Buhari showed that a sum of 100 billion had been set aside for the conduction of 2023 general elections.

According to reports, the federal government has also increased the national budget for the fiscal year from 13.98 trillion to 16.45 trillion.

MTEF is a document prepared annually, which shows the three-year expenditure planning that sets out the medium-term expenditure priorities and hard budget constraints against which sectors plans are developed.
