Christian Eriksen Discharged from Hospital

The Danish playmaker will head home with an ICD heart-starting device, seven days after sudden collapse in Copenhagen.

Christian Eriksen reveals that he’s feeling well after he was discharged from hospital, following a successful operation after he suffered from cardiac arrest a week ago.

In Denmark’s opening match at the Euros on Saturday against Finland, Ericksen suddenly collapsed. He was rushed to a nearby Rigshospitalet were he was fitted with an ICD heart-starting device.

After the successful operation, the midfielder visited his team-mates to encourage them but will now head home with his family as he continues to recover from the shock attack.

“Thank you for the massive number of greetings – it has been incredible to see and feel,” Eriksen said in a statement.

“The operation went well, and I am doing well under the circumstances. It was really great to see the guys again after the fantastic game they played last night. No need to say, that I will be cheering on them on Monday against Russia.”

The Danish Football Union further added: “Christian Eriksen has been through a successful operation and was today discharged from Rigshospitalet. Today, he also visited the national team in Helsingor, and from there he will go home and spend time with his family.”

Denmark will look to save themselves from early exit at the competition, as they must beat Russia at Saint-Petersburg on Monday to have a chance.
