The draws for the next round of the competition were carried out today.

Manchester United will face former arch-rivals Barcelona in the knockout play-off round of the UEFA Europa League.

The group stages of the Europa League competition were completed on Thursday, the 3rd of November, while the group stages of the Champions League were completed on Tuesday, the 1st of November.

United finished second place behind spanish club Real Sociedad in the group stages of the competition. This meant that they would face a team that finish third in the Champions League group stages in the competition’s round of 32 knockout stages.

Barcelona finished behind Bayern Munich and Inter Milan in the Champions League group stages, which ultimately meant they were relegated to the Europa League competition.

The two clubs, with rich European histories, would now battle themselves once again for a place in the round of 16 of the Europa League competition.

Only one team would make it to the next stage with the first leg of the tie set to take place on February 16, 2023, and the return leg set for February 23.
