What is a Stye?
A stye can be referred to as a boil of the eye. It is a red bump, sort of like a pimple, but it’s is formed on the outside edge of the eyelid.

What Causes Stye?
Your eyelids have lots of tiny oil glands, especially around the eyelashes. dirt or oil buildup can clog or block these small holes. When a gland is blocked, bacteria can grow inside and cause a stye to develop.

Symptoms Of A Stye
Increased Tear Production, Soreness, Itchiness, Pain, and Swelling

How long does a Stye last?
The swell last for 3 days and after that. It will break open and drain. It will go away eventually within 7-10 days.

How Do You Treat A Stye?

  1. A Warm Compress: This is the most effective way to treat a stye. The warmth enables the pus to come to the surface and then dissolve naturally.
  2. Clean Your Eyelid: You should clean your eyelid with mild soap and water.
  3. Avoid Wearing Makeup: I don’t think anyone would want to wear makeup during a stye, but then we have some makeup freaks, who can’t do without wearing makeup. If you have a stye, please stay off makeup and don’t wear contact lenses, rather put on a pair of glasses.
  4. Use an OTC Antibiotic Ointment: If you want your style to go away, you should put an OTC antibiotic ointment around the area.
  5. Seek Medical Treatment From Your Doctor: Doctors are very helpful in cases like this. They could prescribe some antibiotics you should use and also give you a steroid shot to reduce the swell.

If your Stye isn’t painful, it may be a chalazion, and a chalazion takes a longer time to heal.
The skin around the eyes is much thinner than the rest of your face. So, therefore, you need to be very careful with the products you apply there.

The truth of the matter is that Styes can be painful, take it from someone who has experienced it. Do you have other home remedies for Styes, let us know in the comments section below.
