FG Gives Fresh Orders On Twitter Indefinite Suspension In Nigeria.

The federal government of Nigeria has ordered for the immediate prosecution of Nigerians who are still accessing twitter amidst the indefinite suspension of the social media platform.

Twitter’s was given indefinite suspension in Nigeria on Friday, June 4th. This was announced in a statement released on June 4th by the minister of Information and culture, Lai Mohammed.

However, despite Twitter’s suspension, it has been discovered that Nigerians still access the site through a Virtual Private Network (VPN).

Due to this development, the Attorney General of the federation, Abubakar Malami has given orders to the Director of Public Prosecution of the Federation to persecute Nigerians found violating Twitter’s suspension in the country.

The ACF’s directives was contained in a statement released by his spokesman, Umar Gwandu.

The Statement Read;

“Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami has directed the immediate prosecution of offenders of the federal government ban on Twitter operations in Nigeria.

“Malami directed the Director of Public Prosecution of the Federation at the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, to swing into action it’s earnest the process of prosecution of violators of the Federal Government Deactivation of operations of Twitter in Nigeria.

“Malami directed the DPPF to liaise with the Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy, National Communication and other relevant agencies to ensure the speedy prosecution of offenders without any further delay.”
