A total of 35 men and three women have been confirmed dead as the death role keeps rising.

The death toll in the 21-storey building that collapsed at Gerrard Road, Ikoyi has increased to a total of 38 which includes thirty-five men and three women so far confirmed dead.

On Monday, it was reported that the building which belonged to Fourscore Heights limited collapsed with people trapped inside, including the Managing Director of the company, Mr. Femi Osibona.

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) confirmed on that a total of 33 males and three females have been brought out dead from the disaster.

However, two more male bodies have been found on Thursday morning, making a total of 38 dead bodies.

This was disclosed by the South-West coordinator of NEMA Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye while speaking with correspondents on Thursday.

Mr. Farinloye also added that nine people; One female and eight males, have been rescued alive from the building.

Meanwhile, the General Manager of the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA), Mr. Gbolahan Oki has been suspended by the state Governor.

A panel has also been set up to investigate the causes that led to the collapse of the building, with Governor Sanwo-Olu admitting that mistakes were made on all sides.

Families of the deceased who are victims of the rubble, will be directed to the morgue to identify their loved ones.
