I don’t think God wiped out Sodom and Gomorrah only to exist in a generation that argues if Homosexuality is a sin or not. The answer to this question ought to be glaring to all that understand the meaning of sin. Nevertheless, the ability to back one’s stance with evidence and sufficient points is the best way to influence thought patterns in the right direction. With this premise in mind, this article shall strife to sufficiently prove that homosexuality is a sin.

What does it mean to sin? To sin simply means going against God’s will. Therefore, any action that does not conform to the will of God is sinful. So what is God’s will as regards the sexuality of humans? To answer this question correctly, there is a need to return to the very beginning. To take a mental trip back to Eden and grasp God’s intentions.

In the story of creation, Adam was created, and it’s said that God thought it wise to create for him a partner. Therefore, he created Eve. Though created from the rib of Adam, Eve was of different sexuality. Therefore, God’s will was never homosexuality else he would have created another man.

Using a syllogism I shall buttress and simplify this point.

God created a man,

He then created a woman to be his partner,

Therefore, God only ordained heterosexuality.

To sway away from heterosexuality into homosexuality is to wiggle away from God’s will and that is consequently a sin.

In Leviticus 18:22, the scriptures say,

“Do not practice homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman. It is a detestable sin.” (NLT).

Why should more evidence need to be presented to showcase that homosexuality is going against God’s will when it is plainly expressed in the holy scriptures?

Frankly, the biggest threat to humanity is not some virus or even the pandemic that has kept us isolating and making life-changing decisions. The above is life-threatening but it is not soul threatening. A death caused by the above will destroy the body. Though that is deeply saddening, however,  the soul (which is infinite) remains intact. So where lies the real threat to humanity?

The biggest threat to this generation is that they have lost their sense of sin. Therefore, they are prone to acts that can destroy both their body and soul. The question in Matthew 16:26 that states, “What shall it profit a man, if he gains the whole world but loses his soul?” This is a valid scriptural question that should act as our cynosure.

Frankly, it is hard to stay on the right side of the divide between sin and righteousness due to false “knowledge” spreading like wildfire. The retired South African Archbishop, Desmond Tutu is known as one of the greatest supporters of homosexuality in the African Christian community. He has tagged homophobia as the “New Apartheid.” In his words;

I would refuse to go to a homophobic heaven. No, I would say sorry, I mean I would much rather go to the other place.”

He has also openly declared that he cannot worship a “Homophobic God.” In this statement, the archbishop is trying to project for God what His Will should be. So if God is not in support of homosexuality, then He isn’t a God that should be worshipped. Such a thought process is not Christian. Even Jesus Christ the son of God In Luke 22:42 said, “Father not my will, but may you will be done.” Being Christian entails being Christ-like. And Christ submitted himself to the will of God without projecting what God’s will should be.

Desmond Tutu claims his argument for homosexuality is based on the premise, that homosexuals did not choose to be the way they are. Therefore, being homosexual is part of God’s design. And if God doesn’t agree then God isn’t God. The good bishop forgets that “the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom.” (1 Corinthians 1:25).

An argument like this is quite vague, and It makes room and excuses for so many ill actions. Such as bestiality, necrophilia, and even incest. Lately, it seems like Paul Feyerabend’s “Anything Goes,” scientific methodology is now practiced in Christianity. Anything goes.

What is sin is determined by God’s will, and His will is spelled out in the scriptures. So what can be judged as sinful or not sinful should never be based on human convictions but God’s will. In MATTHEW 19:3-6, some Pharisees came to Jesus and asked if a man is right to divorce his wife. In his response he said;

“Haven’t you read, that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female’ and said, ‘For this reason, a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh?”

These words of Jesus Christ affirm our earlier stance that from creation God’s will was always towards heterosexuality and never homosexuality. Making homosexuality a sin.

One argument put forward to tag homosexuality as not sinful is that God created all in his image and likeness. This is true, but it doesn’t make homosexuality less sinful. After all, other forms of sins are perpetrated by individuals created in the image and likeness of God.

People also argue in support of homosexuality, saying homosexuals did not choose to be that way, for they were created that way.  Well, Apostle Paul in ROMANS 1:26-27 stated that;

Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way, the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.

It is my earnest prayer that those committing homosexuality repents before they receive the penalty for their perversion.

Homosexuality is a sin. As Christians, we shouldn’t conform to such acts. Remember, the wages for sin is death (Romans 6:23). Our convictions of what is sinful or righteous should always be based on the will of God. Nevertheless, remember to hate the sin and not the sinner. You are no different from the Pharisees if you can’t correct people with love.

  1. Look at it from this angle (reality)
    People who were born male naturally their meant to have male homones, I do not have to educate you on what hormone is, so tell me,as a male child who just came out of a womb just like every other children,after he gets to puberty he begins to start having feelings not for the opposite sex but his similar sex,do you think he put that feelings there by himself or it’s came as a result of nature,what I’m trying to say is,if God didn’t want these type of people to exist he would have not in the first place allowed it to happen,okay if you now the one saying it’s a sin what then would you talk of those hermaphrodite with two organs,sometimes lets remember we are human first before anything else. Even the bible has been changed by man to suit his selfish desire,you May think I’m otherwise but its the truth.
