The Lagos state government announced the temporary closure of the Airport Bridge at Toyota on Oshodi/Isolo Expressway as a result of the damages caused by a tanker explosion.

The state government revealed that the road was closed in order to carry out integrity tests on the affected bridge.

The state government explained that integrity tests had to be carried out on the bridge to make sure that it is safe for people to use for road movements.

This directive was announced on Sunday, January 10th, by the commissioner of transportation, Frederic Oladeinde.

Frederic said;

“The bridge, therefore, has to be closed to vehicular traffic movement to enable the state government to conduct structural tests on the bridge.’

Taking the grief of motorists into concern, the commissioner also announced alternative routes for motorists to use during the period of the road closure.

“Motorists from Mile 2 to Cele on Apapa Expressway approaching Iyano-Isolo through Daleko Bridge will need to make use of Aiye and Osolo way to Ask Afariogun through 7&8 access International Airport.

“Motorists from Toyota will make use of the service lanes by the Arm forces Resettlement Centres to BOC on NAFDAC headquarters, through a U-turn at Cappa on Agege Motor Road to Bolade/Oyetayo Street (Oshodi-Isolo Local Govt Secretariat) through Bolade on Apapa-Oshodi Expressway via Charity in order to reach International Airport Road.

“Motorists from Bus Terminal 2 Transport Interchange, inwards Charity on Apapa-Oshodi Expressway, can connect International Airport Road from Toyota Bus Stop through Anthony Oke inwards Oshodi Oke to Charity and connect International Airport Road.”

Frederic also said that the Lagos Traffic Management Officials(LATSMA) will be deployed to control and manage traffic flow along the roads during the course of diversions.
