List Of Amazing Black Men Named The Sexiest Men Alive

Since the inception of the People’s Sexiest Man Alive Cover Choices, 36 men have been bestowed this honour. Brad Pitt, George Clooney, and Johnny Depp have all received this honour twice. However, only five men of colour have made the cut.

This article highlights the amazing five black men that have been named the sexiest man alive in a particular year.

Denzel Washington

In 1996, Denzel Washington became the first black man to be named the sexiest man alive. Denzel Washington is one of the most decorated actors. He has won multiple awards and in 2020, he was ranked as the greatest actor of the twenty-first century by the New York Times 

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson

Dwayne Johnson famously known as “The Rock” is a famous wrestler-turned-phenomenon actor. In 2016, Dwayne became the second man of colour bestowed with the honour of being the sexiest man alive.

Idris Elba

The cover of the People’s Sexiest Man Alive was graced by Idris Elba in 2018. The British star became the third black man to be named the sexiest man alive. Idris Elba is a talented actor/producer/director and musician. He became famous through his roles in TV series such as “The Wire” and “Luther”. Also, his role as Nelson Mandela in the biography film “Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom” boosted his popularity. 

John Legend 

The fourth black man to be named the sexiest man alive is the super talented John Roger Stephens known professionally as John Legend. The megastar is one of the sixteen people in the world and the first black man to achieve the milestone of winning all the four major annual American entertainment awards: (EGOT: Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony). 

Michael B. Jordan

The “Black Panther” and “Creed” star, in 2020 became the fifth man of colour to be named People’s Sexiest Man Alive. Michael B. Jordan is a talented American actor and producer. 

The above mentioned are the five black men that have been named the sexiest men alive. For three consecutive years (2018-2020) men of colour emerged as the sexiest men alive which is a huge step up compared to how the list was dominated by white men in the 90s. Anyways, the 2021 sexiest man alive is Paul Rudd.
