The police in Ogun State on Friday arrested a suspect, Bolanle Ojomu, “while carrying out robbery operation at Ilese Ijebu.”

Ogun Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the suspect was nabbed following a distress call received by the police at Ilese Ijebu division at about 12:30 am.

The police had been informed that armed robbers were terrorising residents of Silva Estate, Odomalasa area of Ilese.

Acting on the distress call, Oyeyemi said the DPO of Ilese Ijebu, CSP Amuda Bolaji, immediately mobilised patrol team and raced to the scene of the robbery incident.

Sighting the policemen, Oyeyemi disclosed that the hoodlums fled immediately; saying, however, that “they were hotly chased and one of the suspects was apprehended with the assistance of members of the community, while others escaped.”

One locally-made gun with one live cartridge had been recovered from the suspect.

Meanwhile, the Ogun Acting Commissioner of Police, DCP Abiodun Alamutu, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the State CIID for further investigation, even as directed directed massive manhunt for the fleeing members of the gang.
