The Premier League giants will rely on the German for the remainder of the 2021-22 football season.

Manchester United are closing in on appointing Ralf Ragnick as their Interim Coach, four days after the sack of Ole Gunner Solskjaer.

While the Red Devils are still searching for a long-term manager, the German tactician has agreed to join the club on interim basis, although advanced talks are still on going between the two.

It is understood that United have identified Paris Saint-Germain manager, Mauricio Pochettino as their number target to fill the vacant post on a permanent basis. However, it would be difficult to land him mid-season.

Ralf Ragnick will now manage Manchester United on a short-term basis with a consultancy role to play after the season ends.

The German, popularly known as the father of Gegen pressing has managed five clubs in the German Bundesliga, including Schalke 04 and RB Leipzig.

At Schalke, he enjoyed his most successful spell, finishing runners-up in the German top-flight in the 2004-05 season, while he claimed DFB-Pokal and DFL-Supercup trophies in 2011.

He was director of football for both RB Leipzig and Red Bull Salzburg in 2012, where he played a significant role in helping the former rise from the fourth tier of German football to the Bundesliga.

Ragnick is currently the Manager of Sports and Development at Russian Premier League side Lokomotiv Moscow. He was appointed to take the role back in 2012.
