Many feared dead as gunmen attack Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo state.

Reports from Owu-luwa Community in Owo Local government of Ondo state confirm that unknown gunmen attacked St.francis Catholic Church located in area during the early hours of Sunday, June 5th.

Many members of St.Francis Catholic Church died, while several others sustained injuries after the shooting and bomb explosion carried out by the gunmen.

According to reports, the Catholic Church is situated very close to the palace of Olowo of Owo.

Nigerian Tribune reports that no fewer than 50 corpses were moved out of the church along with several casualties admitted in Federal Medical Center, Owo, for medical attention.

According to a source, an unspecified number of gunmen made entrance into the Catholic Church while service was going on and started shooting at the congregation.

The source said that the congregation was caught unaware as no expected such a situation. The whole area was thrown into pandemonium as residents around the area ran for safety.
