A section of the Benin-Akure highway in Ifon axis of Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State has collapsed, leaving motorists and passengers stranded.

According to residents within the area, the road caved in due to flooding which was said to have been caused by hours of heavy rains.

Following the development, youths in Omilafia village mobilized themselves and blocked the road to prevent motorists from falling into the ditch.

According to some motorists who were stuck, the only option left to link Akure and Benin was to take a longer route.

They maintained that motorists will have to go through Ore to connect Benin-Lagos highway before getting to Akure.
