Thomas Muller has become the most decorated player in German football after Bayern’s super cup win over Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday.

Bayern Munich ran out winners after a pulsating match against last season’s Bundesliga runners-up. Joshua Kimmich’s decisive late strike gave his side a 3-2 win over Dortmund.

Goals from corentin tolliso and muller gave Bayern a 2-0, but Dortmund drew level thanks to goals from Julian Brandt and Erling Haaland.

Hansi’s Flick’s side have now won their fifth major trophy of the year. That victory meant that Muller has picked up his record 27th trophy of his club career.

Muller has now broken the record previously held by Bayern’s great Bastian Schweinsteiger less than a week after defeating Sevilla 3-1 in the UEFA super cup. 

However, the club followed this victory with a surprise 4-1 defeat to Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga. The loss ended a 32-match unbeaten run in all competitions for Bayern.

The experienced frontman has won the Bundesliga nine times, the DFB-Pokal six times, one world cup, two Champions League titles, one Club World cup, two UEFA Super cups and Six German Super Cups.

It has been a stellar year for Bayern , who won the treble last season. The 2020-21 season has started and the club already has two trophies in the span of a week.

The club hopes to bounce back to winning ways domestically when they host Hertha Berlin in a league match.
