Natahsa Thahane lands in trouble after revealing that Baleka Mbete who was a government official as of 2017 provided money for her studies at the New York Film Academy.
During an interview on MacG’s Podcast & Chill, the actress said she made a request for fund from Baleka, and the politician reached out the department of Art & Culture, which in turn paid her over R1 million tuition fee.
“I asked Mam’ Baleka (Mbete) and was like, ‘Mama, I need to go back to school. I’ve been accepted… I don’t know what I’m going to do, can I have funds? Please arrange something for me.’ She managed to speak to (the department) Arts and Culture and they were able to help me,” she said on the podcast.
Baleka funtioned as the speaker of parliament and the ANC chairperson as of then.

The clip where Natasha made the confession has gone viral on social media, and she’s being criticised alongside the former ANC chairperson.
MacG leading Natasha to spill the beans even more, “hmmmm good investment…”
Look, the problem here isn’t the tuition, the problem is HOW she got sponsored. DUBIOUS means that’s corruption my friend, even Sizwe can attest to that #podcastandchillwithmacgpic.twitter.com/faoIUiglt5
This Natasha story is extremely unfair only people with privileges are making in.
Can we talk about how NSFAS doesn’t even fund private institutions that are WITHIN South Africa but Natasha getting funding from Arts and Culture?! This is what South Africa has become
Damn man, the Natasha situation is happening in the midst of the ANC losing Metros…, the timing is off and the disadvantage is that the ANC has lost more young people. You fumble the youth you forfeit the future
