A big relief for many Nigerians across the country as federal government on Friday, January 8th, announced that every Nigerian can link up to seven Sim cards to one National Identification Number on the National Identity Management Commission Mobile App.

The new app, NIMC mobile app was launched to curb the stress involved in registering for NIN physically. The app can be downloaded by Android users and IPhone users on Google Play Store.

FG Reveals How Many Sim Cards Can Be Linked To One NIN

The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Patami delivered this information on Wednesday, January 8th, during a programme on Channels Tv, Punch reports.


He said;

“You will be able to link up to seven Sim numbers to only one. I have already downloaded the app, launched the app, and linked some of my numbers immediately. This is part of digitalisation.”

He also gave assurance to the public that the NIMC and telecommunication operators will review the NIN-SIMCARDS linkage exercise if fresh lockdown is imposed in the country.

Isa added, that necessary conditions have been laid down to ensure that the time of applicants during the registration is not consumed.

According to him, the enrolment for the National Identification Number will not take up to five minutes and applicants can also complete their forms online without visiting any office.
