The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday said it has arrested no fewer than ten people suspected to be illegal miners in Oyo state.
EFCC in a statement made available to DAILY POST in Ibadan, the state capital noted that the suspects were arrested in Ogbomoso.
The commission noted that the suspects were arrested with six trucks fully loaded with lithium.
The names of the suspects according to the commission included; Yunusa Adisa, Ganiyu Kazeem, Muideen Babayemi, Sulaiman Usman and Adeleke Waliu.
Other suspects arrested by the commission according to the statement are; Tiamiyu Rokeeb, Olusola Sunday, Oyedokun Oluwagbemiga, Sulaimon Ishiaq and Olufimihan Eniola.
EFCC in the statement signed by Dele Oyewale, Head of Media and Publicity, said that the arrest followed credible intelligence on their suspected involvement in criminal extraction of solid mineral resources in the state.
Oyewale in the statement revealed that the suspects would be charged to court after conclusion of investigations.
