No casualties have been recorded so far
Residents of Igando and Idimu areas of Lagos State were through into panic mood after high-tension cables transmitting electricity fell across major roads and vehicles.
According to reports gathered, the cables fell after a pylon transmitting electricity from Egbin Power Station collapsed on Friday morning.
However, no casualty has been recorded according to the National Emergency Management Authority, NEMA.
NEMA has however, advised residents to be safety conscious as they go about their businesses in the area.
Speaking to correspondents, the South-West Coordinator for NEMA, Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye said that officials of the agency have been dispatched to the area to prevent loss of lives and destruction of more properties.
“Residents of Igando, Idimu Axis are strongly advised to observe serious safety precautions due to the collapse of high tension poles that emanated from Egbin Hydro power station,” Farinloye said.
“The line is from Ikorodu across Ikeja and other areas. The Fire Service has been mobilised to provide cover in case of fire outbreak.”
Farinloye also added that the power service agencies and other officials have isolated the transmission line.
