Police man who killed George Floyd sentenced to 22.5 years in prison.

Former Minneapolis officer, Derek Chauvin, has been sentenced to 22 and a half years in prison.

FoxNews reports that in April 2021, Derek was convicted of second degree murder, third degree murder second degree manslaughter.

Although, it was expected that judge would give Derek sentence between 20 to 25 years, with a maximum of 40 years and an average sentence of about 12 and a half years in prison.

The prosecutors had asked the court for 30 years sentence, while brothers of the deceased, George Floyd, asked for court for a maximum of 40 years for Derek Chauvin.

Derek is believed to have been given a lighter sentence because of his clean records. Apart from his case on manslaughter, Derek has no other criminal record.
