The Nigerian Police have rescued scores of children allegedly found in an underground facility of a church in Ondo State.
It was gathered that the shocking discovery was made on Friday, July 1st with the Pastor and some members of the church arrested.
According to a source, the children, numbering over 50 were allegedly kidnapped and confined to the basement of the church. However, they have been rescued by the police.
A viral video shows the children being conveyed by a police patrol vehicle and taken to the police station.
In the video, a voice could be heard saying: “They are kidnapped children found in the underground cell of a church in the Valentino Area of Ondo. The pastor and some members of the church have been arrested and were also in the patrol van of the police.”
The Police Public Relations Officer of the state command, Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami told reporters that she is yet to get full details of the incident but the children have been taken to the Akure police headquarters.
However, she also said that full details would be given soon concerning the situation once gotten from the Deputy Police Officer of the state.
