The Belgian has stated that Chelsea has always been his number one club.

Chelsea striker, Romelo Lukaku has apologised to the club fans after his controversial interview with SkySports rocked the football World.

In the interview, Lukaku appeared to criticise Thomas Tuchel’s tactics and revealed that he missed playing for Inter Milan and would like to return there.

This happened just five months after the blues signed him from Inter Milan for a record fee of £97.5 million in the summer.

However, the 28-year old seemed to miss Inter Milan fans whom he tagged “the best in the world” and some of the players that play for the club.

As a consequence of his actions, the forward was dropped from the squad that played a 2-2 draw in a crunch encounter with Liverpool.

But the forward has apologised for his actions as he promises to gain the support of Chelsea fans once more after a sit down with Tuchel and the club’s other bosses.

What did he say?

“To the Chelsea fans, I’m sorry for the upset I caused,” he began his apology.

“You guys know the connection I’ve had with this club since my teenage years. I understand you guys being upset.

“It’s up to me to restore your trust now. I will do my best, show commitment every day on the training ground and in the games to make sure we win.”

In the controversial interview, Lukaku also stated that he missed Lautaro Martinez and he expected a move to a bigger club like Barcelona, Real Madrid or Bayern but not Chelsea.

“What I mean by that is that kids have a certain type of dream of playing for those football clubs,” he said.

“For me, my club was Chelsea. Everybody knows that from being 10, 11 years old – I said I always wanted to play for Chelsea.

“There are images of when I came [to Stamford Bridge] with my school, on a school trip, I said I wanted to play for Chelsea.

“I came when I was 18, it didn’t go so well, now I am back here at 28, I think, the prime years of my career. I can’t mess this up.

“I worked really hard for the last 10 years to get this opportunity, I’m really happy to be here.”

“I have to show my commitment to the fans, to make sure we win games and a lot of trophies at the end of the season.”

What did the manager say?

Tuchel also added that Lukaku has apologised internally and will join up with the squad for a training session.

“We are happy we took the time that it needed to look on it and to talk calmly about it. This is what we did,” he started.

“Romelu apologised and is back in the squad for today’s training which is later. For me, the most important thing was to clearly understand and believe that it was not intentional.
