While speaking with Bloomberg Television on Wednesday, August 18 2021, Mohammed noted that negotiations have been encouraging with Twitter. He also stated that some of the terms and conditions stated are fundamental and important.

It’s been over two months since the Nigerian Government enforced the Twitter Ban, days after President Buhari’s controversial tweet was deleted.

Negotiations to regulate the platform has since been ongoing with Lai Mohammed maintaining that the ban was not due to the President’s deleted tweet.

“For national security, we suspended the operations,” he stated.

Many Nigerians, however have resolved to using Virtual Private Networks (VPN) to access Twitter since the ban.
