The singer is en route to winning his second Grammy award-maybe third too.
Nigerian superstar singer, Ayodeji Balogun, Popularly known as Wizkid has bagged two nominations for the upcoming 64th Grammy awards.
After series of chart toppings and record-breaking, his song ‘Essence’ featuring Tems, which is off his Made in Lagos album has been nominated in the Best Global Music Performance category.
Wizkid’s Essence will face competition from Angelique Kidjo and Burna Boy’s Do yourself, Femi Kuti’s PÀ PÀ PÀ, Yo-Yo Ma and Angelique Kidjo’s Blewu, and Arooj Aftab’s Mohabbat in the same category.
The Deluxe version of the album itself has also been nominated alongside ‘Legacy+’ by Femi Kuti in the Best Global Music Album category. Nigeria’s Made Kuti, Angelique Kidjo and two others would also be hoping to win the award.
The award ceremony would take place on the 31st of January 2022.
