Injured victims have been evacuated to a state hospital for proper care and attention.
The Nigerian Army has claimed responsibility for the bombing of over 30 villagers in Tudun Biri, a village in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
According to reports, the unfortunate incident occured at around 9pm on Sunday, December 3, as the villagers were celebrating the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
In a statement released by Samuel Aruwan, the Overseeing Commissioner of the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Kaduna State, stated that the army has claimed responsibility for what happened in the area.
The statement highlighted that the Nigerian Army admitted to have been conducting a routine mission against terrorists when the ‘unintended attack’ ensued.
Aruwan’s statement reads, “The Kaduna State Government has received briefings on Sunday night’s attack which left several citizens dead and others injured.
“In a meeting presided over by the Deputy Governor, Dr Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, which had in attendance heads of security agencies, religious and traditional leaders, the Nigerian Army explained the circumstances which led to the unfortunate and unintended attack.
“The General Officer Commanding One Division Nigerian Army, Major VU Okoro explained that the Nigerian Army was on a routine mission against terrorists but inadvertently affected members of the community.”
Aruwan added that dozens of injured victims have been evacuated to the Barau Diko Teaching Hospital by the state government for proper treatment. He also noted that search-and-rescue efforts are still ongoing.
