7 Weird, Easy-to-Learn Skills that Are Super Useful.

Indeed, head-knowledge and certificates aren’t that useful these days. It’s skills: What can you do with your head and your hands? What service can you provide? What problems can you solve?

And while it may take a while to get a grip of marketable skills like web design, or even to learn a musical instrument like the piano; the ones I’m going to show you may not even take up to 30 minutes.

And trust me, not only are they easy to learn; the skills are also going to be very useful. I mean, wouldn’t you like to pick a lock sometime? #wink!

1. Learn to Moonwalk        

If there’s any skill that surpasses the times, it’s the moonwalk. I can’t count the number of times I’ve been awed watching music videos and seeing them doing this.

While you may not necessarily be a dancer in every sense of the word, whipping this up at your next party will definitely be a head-turner. Who knows? You may be fortunate enough to get a date.

2. Sharpen Knives With Flair.

What woman wouldn’t like a man who’s good with his knives? (And I don’t mean using it to kill or anything…duh). As an omoluabi, it is imperative you know how to kill chickens (and maybe goats, too). Maybe you want to chop off some vegetables.

What happens when the knife is not sharp enough? Of course, you can’t use it like that. Learning how to sharpen knives is something you should learn.

3. Pen-Twirl with Ease.

Pen Twirling is a fun way to pass the time while with friends. Bring out some pens, or even pencils. Maybe you’re even a drummer or some kind of artist. Impress them with this super cool skill. Make them wonder.

4. Take the Perfect Selfies.

Chances are your selfie-taking skills don’t impress you anymore. How are they supposed to impress anyone else, then?

You probably don’t know that there are techniques to doing this. You may not be a professional photographer, but knowing the specific angles, symmetry and lightening to use will bring out the beauty in your photos—as well as make everyone wonder!

5. Tell a Great Story.

Okay okay. Who doesn’t know how to tell a story, right? I’m here to tell you, you can take it to the next level and make it even better. And you don’t even need to be a writer or public speaker.

“Your own stories are the best. Select one, and hone it to the point of sharpness,” says Dr. Marlene Caroselli, and author and speaker. “Make sure it is generic, germane and can fit into your next meeting (business or social).”                                 

6. Pick a Lock.

Oh Gosh. I can’t count the number of times I left my key and had to wait for my roommates to come before I could enter. We’ve all been there.

Imagine that next time, you have to use the toilet real bad. What do you do? Definitely not shit your pants! All you need is a paperclip.

7. Solve a Rubik’s Cube.

Ha-ha. We’ve all been there, haven’t we? At one time or the other, a friend has brought one and we have tried our luck, twisting and twisting without success, while another person takes all the praise.

News Flash! Rubik’s cubes are not only meant for geniuses and math whizzes. You can be the super cool person next time!
