On Monday October 4th, the leadership of the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors(NARD) finally called off its strike.
The Association advised doctors on strike to resume duties in a statement signed by the Secretary General of the Nigerian Medical Association, Ekpe Phillips Uche.
At a meeting, the president of NARD, Godiya Ishaya declared that the ongoing strike has been called off.
He Said;
“We’ve officially suspended the strike to resume at 8:00am on Wednesday. We made the decision in the wee hours of today.
“We held an emergency meeting from 5:30pm on Sunday to the morning hours of today, and the NEC decided that having reviewed the progress made so far, the strike should be suspended.”
It was also agreed that Nigerian doctors would resume work on Wednesday, October 6th 2021.
