The threats come after the loss to Liverpool at Anfield.
Manchester United’s skipper, Harry Maguire has received serious threats following the club’s loss to arch rivals Liverpool on Tuesday.
A spokesman for the club confirmed on Thursday that an anonymous bomb threat was sent to his home.
Upon hearing the reports, Police were sent to Maguire’s home to ensure the safety of the player and his family, with now investigations ongoing to identify the culprits.
“In the last 24 hours, Harry has received a serious threat to his family home,” the spokesman said.
“He has reported this to the police who are now looking into the matter.
“The safety of his family and those around him is obviously Harry’s number one priority.
“He will continue to prepare for this weekend’s fixture as normal and we will not be commenting in any further detail at this time.”
Maguire has been picked on by fans throughout an underwhelming season for the Red Devils. As the captain of the club, he hasn’t been spared criticism by fans.
Manchester United sit sixth in the Premier League table as it now seems difficult to secure a top four finish.
