Abba Kyari released from Kuje prison after 27 months

The super cop has been in detention since his drug trafficking case with the NDLEA in 2022.

After 27 months, embattled police chief, Abba Kyari, has been released from the Kuje Custodial Centre in Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Recall that the former Deputy Commisioner of Police and head of Intelligent Response Team (IRT), was arrested in February 14, 2022 by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and detained ever since for alleged involvement in an international drug ring.

The spokesperson of the Nigerian Correctional Service of the FCT Command, Adamu Duza, on Friday, May 31st, confirmed his release.

Duza stated that Kyari was released after he met his bail conditions.

“DCP Kyari has perfected his bail conditions, and has since been released today,” he told Punch.

He was granted a two-week bail to allow him conclude the burial rites of his Mother, who passed away on the 5th of May.

However, Kyari’s bail conditions demands that he deposits his international passport with the court and report to the nearest NDLEA office during the bail period.
