Arsenal complete the signing of Italian center-back Riccardo Calafiori for £42 million

The Italian becomes the latest addition to the gunners back line.

Premier League club, Arsenal have completed the signing of Italian center-back Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna in a deal worth a reported £42 million ($54m).

The club annouced his arrival on Monday, with Mike Arteta saying, “We welcome Riccardo and his family to Arsenal. He is a great signing and gives us huge strength to reinforce our defence.

“Riccardo is a big personality and character, with specific skills which will make us stronger as we push to win major trophies. He has already shown great development in recent seasons with his performances for both Bologna and Italy, with his progression and development in the past year being really impressive.”

Calafiori who has just signed a long-term contract with the club has taken up the number 33 jersey number and is ready to play for the gunners.
