Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has revealed William Saliba did not train with the rest of the team for 10 days before their 3-0 win over Brentford on Sunday.
Saliba opened the scoring for the Gunners, before Gabriel Jesus and Fabio Vieira added goals.
The victory saw Arteta’s men return to the top of the Premier League ahead of Manchester City and Tottenham.
Arteta, speaking after the game, hailed Saliba for his “superb” contribution.
He said:
“He was superb. He hasn’t trained for 10 days because he had some discomfort, but he comes in and competes like that.
“Not only the goal and his defending but he does the ugly part of the game that people won’t recognise. He deserves credit.”
