Barcelona complete the transfer of Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich

There is a new icon in town!

Spanish giants Barcelona have confirmed that an agreement has been reached to sign Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich.

A saga that started before the end of the 2021-22 season has now ended with Barcelona getting a modern icon of the game as Xavi’s Barcelona rebuild continues.

Despite a financial situation at Barcelona, the club continues to sign players with Lewandowski only the latest addition.

Barcelona will pay an initial fee of €45 million to bring Lewandowski to Camp Nou, with a further €5m potential due in add-ons.

A statement from the club reads: “FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich have reached an agreement in principle for the transfer of Robert Lewandowski, dependent on the player passing a medical and contracts being signed.”

According to reports, Lewandowski will sign a three-year contract with an option to extend by a further year.

No doubt Barcelona would be adding a prolific goalscorer to the team. At Bayern Munich, the Polish striker scored a total of 343 goals in 373 appearances for the club.

He was Bundesliga’s highest goal scorer for six consecutive seasons and broke Gerd Müller’s record for most goals in a season in the process.
