Nigeria Chief of Army Staff, General Ibrahim Attahiru, has been confirmed dead in a plane crash that happened on Friday evening, May 21, by the Nigeria Army, BBC Pidgin reports.
A spokesperson of the Nigeria Army, Yerima Mohammed confirmed General Attahiru’s death.
An official statement was released by the Nigeria Army on Twitter handle, that confirmed the death of the COAS.
Reports gathered confirm that 10 other persons alongside General Attahiru died in the plane crash.
The COAS was enroute Kaduna from Abuja on Friday, 21 May, 2021 when the unfortunate incident happened.

“The Nigerian Army regrets to announce the passing away of its Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru. The sad event occurred following an air crash in Kaduna which also claimed the lives of 10 other officers including the crew.”
