The Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities(NASUU) and the Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities(SSANU) have announced that they will continue their planned strike action.
Reports gathered say that the associations reached this decision as the meeting held between varsity workers and federal government came out unfruitful.
On January 22nd, 2021, NASUU and SSANU announced that all their divisions across all Universities and interuniversities in the country will embark on the strike on February 5th, 2021.
This news was delivered through a statement released to the press. In the statement, the bodies gave the federal government a two weeks ultimatum to meet their demands.
The minister of labour and employment, Chris Ngige has also reacted to the two bodies planned strike, in response the minister organized a meeting with the leaders of the non-teaching staff.
However, after the meeting the leaders of SSANU and NASUU told journalists that the issue on ground is far from settled as their demands have not been met by the government.
