The winner would be announced in less than 24 hours.
Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the top three nominees contesting for each category of the 2022 awards.
The prestigious event which will take place in Rabat, Morocco on Thursday would see three of Africa’s finest men footballers battle it out for the ultimate price.
Former Liverpool and Senegal forward Sadio Mane, who recently signed for Bayern Munich will face competition from former club teammate, Mohammed Salah (of Egypt and Liverpool) and fellow country man Edouard Mendy (of Chelsea).
In the women’s category, Nigeria’s Asisat Oshoala, who has won the category four times, will be on the hunt for a fifth crown. However, she faces fierce competition from new entrant Grace Chanda of Zambia and Cameroon’s Ajara Nchout Njoya.
A statement from CAF reads: “With less than 48 hours to the highly-anticipated Caf Awards 2022, Caf has revealed the top three [three] for all the women and men categories ahead of the much-awaited Awards Gala on Thursday, 21 July 2022, in Rabat, Morocco.”
“The Awards will be held in Rabat, Morocco on 21 July 2022 at 20h00 local time. [19h00 GMT]. The top three list is from the list of nominees previously revealed by Caf in both men and women categories.”
