Electorates must go for qualified personalities, not political parties – Usani Usani

Former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Pastor Usani Usani has called on the electorate not to vote for political parties but give their votes to governorship and presidential candidates with glaring characters, experience and competence.

He believes that individuals, particularly in Cross River State, will deliver dividends rather than political parties.

In a chat Tuesday morning, the former minister said the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) may not be popular but its candidates are well-loved.

“The electorate should go for candidates who have better and sound knowledge about governance and capacity..

“My party, PRP, is soon coming to be on everybody’s lips.” My jurisdiction will be the grassroots people.”

Usani maintained that he is one candidate that does not have or depends on godfathers, saying he does not get funding from sponsors and will turn around to stake the entire resources of the state to defray such funding. “I am very independent and principled to the extent that I do not belong to or have funding from anybody.”

“I am not saying I cannot accept support but I cannot when I become governor begin to deplete state resources to defray loans from some godfathers.”
