EPL: Man City run riot as Haaland scores another hat-trick, United lose again

The Norwegian shows why he is regarded as a scoring machine once again.

Manchester City dismantle newly promoted Premier League side Ipswich Town 4-1 at the Etihad stadium.

Erling Haaland was at it again, causing problems for the traveling team, as City cruised to a routine win.

Ipswich Town forged ahead in the seventh minute when they crafted a clever breakaway move, which saw Sammie Szmodics put the ball through Ederson’s legs.

However, the joy that erupted from the goal didn’t last for long, as the electric Savinho earned a penalty, which Haaland calmly converts for his first goal.

Just a few minutes later, Savinho again pressured Ipswich goalkeeper Arijanet Muric into an error, and De Bruyne took advantage.

De Bruyne then turned provider for Haaland to score his second from a tight angle.

City were not done as they continued to grab the game by the scruff of its neck, with Haaland securing another hat-trick for himself. With the Hat-trick, it means the Norwegian has now scored seven hat-tricks in 68 games since he made his premier league debut.

It also means he has scored against all 23 clubs he has faced in the premier league.

Meanwhile, City rivals Manchester United were defeated 2-1 by Brighton and Albion with Joao Pedro scoring in the 96th minute.

Manchester United were left to rue two offside decision which went against them, as they saw two goals disallowed.

Alejandro Garnacho thought he had won the match late in the game, only for his goal to be disallowed after a VAR review. Joshua Zirzkee was judged to have touched the ball from an offside position as the ball found its way to the net.

The loss means Manchester United have now lost 47% of their premier league matches against Brighton – their highest loss rate against a single opponent in the competition’s history. This was their 15th meeting in the league and United have lost seven of them.
