EPL: Micah Richards gives condition for Man Utd to win league or any trophy

Former Manchester City defender, Micah Richards, has said that if Manchester United are ever going to win the league or a trophy, it will be in the next two years.

Richards believes Man United still lack a defensive midfielder capable of steering them to silverware this season.

According to him, Chelsea and Liverpool are too strong and will not allow Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side to win the Premier League ahead of them this term.

Man United currently sits in the fourth position on the Premier League table.

“I think if they are ever going to win the league or a trophy, it will be in these next two years, even though I don’t think they will,” Richards said on the BBC’s Match of the Day Top 10 podcast.

“I think Chelsea are too strong. I think Liverpool with [Virgil] Van Dijk now…

“I don’t think they [United] are going to win. I think they will come close.

“The longevity of winning the league, 38 games, I just can’t see it.”

“We are talking about Fred and Matic in that position. McTominay has been injured, though. [Paul] Pogba’s better going forward.

“We are talking about defensively, I can’t see it.
“Varane is quality, the backline is superb but the holding midfield role I am not sure about.”
