EPL: Your job now on line due to two Man Utd stars – Paul Merson tells Solskjaer

Arsenal hero, Paul Merson, has told Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, that his job is now on the line because of how he has handled Jadon Sancho and Donny van de Beek so far this season.

Merson believes Solskjaer cannot get away with it anymore, adding that the only way to get the best out of Sancho and Van de Beek is to keep playing them.

Van de Beek has played just two matches for Man United this season, while Sancho is yet to hit the ground running since joining the club from Borussia Dortmund.

But Merson believes Solskjaer must continue to give both players opportunities instead of having them sitting on the bench during Man United matches.

“Time wasn’t so long ago when playing poorly and having two players you forked out £110m for on the bench was a recipe for the bullet,” Merson told the Daily Star.

“No one seems to say a dickie bird these days, but that does not mean Ole Gunnar Solskjaer can get away with it much longer.

“His job has to be on the line, especially his inability to get a tune out of Jadon Sancho and Donny van de Beek.

“They look like their confidence is shot and, for me, the only way to get them up to speed is to keep playing them.”

Both Sancho and Van de Beek will hope to feature for Man United when they take on Leicester on October 16 after the international break.
