Euro 2024: UEFA to investigate gesture made by Jude Bellingham after goal against Slovakia

The midfielder scored late in the game to draw his country level and into extra time.

UEFA have confirmed that England’s midfielder Jude Bellingham is under investigation for gesture he made during his country’s 2-1 win over Slovakia.

England faced a stern opposition in Slovakia in the Round of 16 of the ongoing UEFA Euro 2024. With the match slipping away from the Three Lions, Bellingham came up clutch and equalized with a bicycle kick in the 95th minute.

After he scored his goal, the Real Madrid midfielder was filmed to have mimicked a crotch grab gesture while apparently looking towards the Slovakia bench.

UEFA stated that an investigation has been launched into “a potential violation of the basic rules of decent conduct by the English Football Association player, Jude Bellingham, having allegedly occurred in the scope of this match.”

In response to the allegations, Bellingham posted the incident on his social media, dismissing the suggestion that it was aimed at the Slovakian bench.

“An inside joke gesture towards some close friends who were at the game. Nothing but respect for how that Slovakia team played tonight,” he wrote on X.
