Falcons Goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie Reveals Her Father’s Initial Resistance to Her Football Aspirations

Chiamaka Nnadozie, keeper for the Super Falcons, has claimed that her father did not approve of her decision to pursue a football career.

Nnadozie, who disclosed this while accepting the African Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year gong at the CAF Awards in Morocco on Monday night, said she was sure her dad would be proud of her latest feat despite not initially supporting her career.

“My dad never wanted me to play [football], but I am sure she will be proud of me tonight,” she said.

The Paris FC goalie defeated South Africa’s Andile Dlamini and Morocco’s Khadija Er-Rmichi to clinch the award.

Nnadozie is the first-choice goalkeeper for the Super Falcons of Nigeria, who also won African Women’s National Team of the Year.
