“Hold my beer” – Dremo disses Sarkodie over who is Africa’s biggest rapper

The African music industry might be seeing a rap battle soon.

On May, 10, 2024, Ghanaian superstar rapper Sarkodie released a single titled “Brag”, where he once again, stated that he is the biggest rapper in Africa.

In the single, Sarkodie didn’t just reiterate his claim, but also name-dropped Nigerian top artists like Davido, Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Asake while highlighting his place at the summit of the African music industry.

The Ghanaian rapper also mentioned that the he has no competition in Africa, but his only competition are American rappers Drake and Kendrick Lamar, who are currently at war with each other.

Dremo’s attention was called to this by some fans and they demanded that he diss the Ghanaian rapper to which he replied “hold my beer”.

Less than 24 hours later, Dremo has replied Sarkodie with a diss track where he mentioned that it’s not how far but how well. According to Dremo, all the Nigerian artists mentioned by the Ghanaian are currently doing better than him, while he also threatened to roast Sarkodie who referred to himself as the G.O.A.T (Greatest Of All Time).

Responding to the diss track, Sarkodie gave a cheeky reply on his Instagram comment section by saying the Nigerian rapper has some potential and just needs a few touches.

It is no news that Sarkodie consistently refers to himself as Africa’s best rapper – a statement which has always caused a stir. If the recent jab-dropping between him and Dremo continues, Africa’s hip-hop scene might be gearing up for a rap battle.
