The Nigerian Bar Association Dutse branch has accused the National leadership of the body of igniting crises in the branch.
This was contained in a statement signed by the chairman Dutse branch, Garba Abubakar.
It was reported that the association fell into crisis after the election of Abubakar as the new Chairman as well as other executives to run its affairs.
He said, “there is a pending case between the two parties in which the NBA President, Olumide Akpata is a second respondent”
“Despite the pending case the National Executive Committee of the Association went ahead and approved the recommendation of a fact-finding committee on the annulment of the election that brought the state executives into office despite a pending litigation”
The statement added that the purported dissolution of the electoral committee of the Dutse branch of the NBA by the fact-finding committee without giving the executives a fair hearing is illegal, null and void as it violates section 36 of the 1999 constitution.
It said setting aside the election of claimants conducted on the 23rd June 2020 without following due process is a breach to the rule of law.
It added that constituting a caretaker committee to run the affairs of the Dutse Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association in the circumstances of a prevailing suit is contempt and violates section 36 of the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria 1999.
