Messi agrees a two-year contract with PSG

The six-time Ballon d’Or winner is set for a new path after his 21-year stay at Barcelona.

Lionel Messi has agreed a two-year contract deal with Paris Saint-Germain, according to Goal.com

The Argentine has agreed a contract with the Parisians that would see him earn around €30-35 million (£25m-30m/$35m-$41m) per season at the club, while they would also be team and individual bonuses.

Messi delivered an emotional press conference on Sunday at the Camp Nou, explaining the reasons why he could not continue with Barcelona. All these he managed to explain amidst uncontrollable tears.

A new chapter now lies ahead of the 34-year old as he’s set to arrive in Paris on Tuesday for medicals. If he has an hitch free session, he would officially be presented as a PSG player on Wednesday.

Messi leaves Barcelona as their top scorer and top appearance maker of all time with 672 goals from 778 matches. Some would even argue that he his no doubt, the greatest player in the club’s history.

During his time at Camp Nou, he has won 10 La Liga titles and four Champions Leagues since making his debut for the club in 2003.

To add to that, Messi has won the Ballon d’Or six times, eclipsing arch-rival Cristiano Ronaldo, who only has five to his name.
