Micah Richards, a former Manchester City defender, believes his old club will win the Premier League this season.
Richards also insisted that Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has been taking criticism, adding that he doesn’t believe that the Citizens are ‘complacent’.
His comments come after Guardiola recently aimed a savage dig at him, as well as his fellow Sky Sports pundits Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher.
“The team [Man City] showed their character, but that didn’t surprise me at all. Whenever people talk negatively about them, it just spurs them on,” Richards told MOTD2 after Man City’s Premier League 2-1 win against Luton Town over the weekend.
“I wouldn’t say Pep [Guardiola] has been touchy recently, but it is like he is taking that criticism and going, “Well, if that is what you think, we will show you,” and the whole team has got that attitude too.
“They might not win the title, although I believe they will, but they will fight to the end. If someone else does beat them to it, then it is going to be very close.
“I don’t think “complacent” was the right word Gary was looking for.”
