Premier League’s First Manager on the Brink of Sacking Revealed

Paul Heckingbottom has become the first Premier League manager to be sacked this season.

Sheffield United officially confirmed his dismissal on Tuesday.

This follows their 5-0 defeat at the hands of fellow relegation battlers, Burnley, on Saturday.

Chris Wilder is now set to return to the club as Heckingbottom’s replacement.

Sheffield United owner Prince Abdullah confirmed this decision on talkSPORT on Tuesday morning.

‘Yes [I have made the decision],’ he said, confirming the news about Heckingbottom’s sacking.

‘Chris is practically an honour of the club; he’s part of Sheffield United history. One thing I always like to do, not just in football but in all of my businesses, is to keep a good relationship with my ex-employees, no matter how it ends. I think you should get over it.

‘At the end of the day, we’re all passionate about what we do and believe Chris is the right man for the job. Chris has done great things for the club; in my opinion, he’s the best guy on earth to take over the club right now in these circumstances.’

The Blades sit bottom of the table on just five points, four adrift of safety.
