TASUED suspend lecturer over s*x-for-mark allegations

The higher institution of learning confirmed this via an official statement.

The management of the Tai Solanrin University of Education, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State has suspended one of its lecturers, Dr Olaniran Balogun over ‘sex-for-marks’ allegations levelled against him.

Dr Balogun, who was the Head of the Department of Religious Studies, is currently declared wanted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences (ICPC).

According to reports, the ICPC accused Balogun of abusing his office and demanding sexual gratification from one of his students, thus issuing a warrant of arrest of the lecturer.

As a result of this, the management of the institution released a statement on Monday, disclosing that they have relieved Balogun of his position and placed him on interdiction until he clears himself of all allegations levelled against him by the ICPC.

The statement reads:

“The said Dr Olaniran Balogun is a lecturer at the Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, Ogun State. Dr Balogun is currently under investigation for the alleged misdemeanour and has since been relieved of his position as the Head of Department, Religious Studies.

“He has also been placed on interdiction until he clears himself of the various allegations levelled against him by ICPC.

“The university would therefore not condone any act of indiscipline and corrupt practices by any of its staff.”

The institution also pleads with him to honour the invitation of the anti-graft agency to clear himself of the allegations.
